What is KYBELLA®
Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that dissolves stubborn fat under the chin (submental fat) using deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that breaks down fat cells. Once destroyed, these fat cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, leading to permanent fat reduction and a more defined jawline.

How Does Kybella® Work?
Kybella’s active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, targets and destroys fat cells under the chin. Over the following weeks, your body naturally processes and eliminates these cells, leading to a gradual reduction in fullness and a slimmer, more contoured jawline.
Since the fat cells are permanently destroyed, results are long-lasting—as long as you maintain a stable weight, the treated area will not regain fat. Most patients require 2 to 4 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart for optimal sculpting.
Who is a Good Candidate for Kybella?

What to Expect During Your Treatment
Your Kybella session will begin with marking the injection sites under your chin to ensure precise placement. A topical numbing agent may be applied for added comfort. Using a fine needle, your provider will strategically inject Kybella into the targeted fat areas, typically requiring 20-30 small injections per session.
The treatment takes about 15-20 minutes, and most patients describe a mild stinging or warmth during the process. Some swelling and tenderness in the area is normal and expected as the fat cells break down. Swelling typically peaks in the first few days and subsides over the following 1-2 weeks.
Since Kybella permanently eliminates fat cells, most patients need multiple sessions (typically 2-4 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart) to achieve their desired contour.
